- Dr. Raquel Bohorquez has started her career in medicine since 2012 and worked as a pediatrician and GP in Venezuela. Her love to travel made her to apply for a job on a cruise and got hired as an Doctor with P&O Cruises in Australia and then with Marella Cruises. During this time Dr. Raquel had the opportunity to see and feel the shipboard lifestyle making her realize the huge potential of the cruise business and the high demand of crew that cruise lines have in order to run the onboard operation. At the same time it was also noticeable the lack of training for new hire crew members making it harder for supervisors to run the operation leading to more crew resignations. The experience of Dr.Raquel both in the medical science sector as well as the administrative sector, lead to forming the concept of cruise hospitality centre. Aside the Human Resources part of an operation there is a big part concerning mental health of the shoreside employees as well as seafarers. Having a senior executive with experience in both healthcare and employee administration will ensure that the guidelines of the organization are effectively disseminated and enforced and the wellbeing and mental health of the organization’s employees is looked after.
